It worked, but wasnt as neat as the router, its amazing in hindsight how much we take for granted out of these little routers.
I thought when I used the milling machine i would do aneater and better job, but in fact it was the opposite

Re: New to the forum and lutherie, a few questions
Im actually of a different mentality, I plan almost nothing, just grab a bit of wood that I think will do the job and make it happen. That being said planning is a good option, just dont overplan, too many people over complicate stuff. Keep it simple and functional, the moment your happy then make i...

Overhead router died, got desperate
Its amazing what you will do when something stops working, my overhead router died today, I didnt want to have to pull the one from the underbench unit to then have to fit it back up and square it up etc. So improvisation.. Had to convert a acoustic guitar from a righty to a lefty, so little bit of ...

Re: Buffing
What do you use for final buffing of an instrument? For initial buffing of the body, I use a makita 7 and a half inch power buffer with an orange pad For final buffing more like polishing I use a 10 inch orbital with a sheepskin cloth For buffing frets after levelling I use a 10 inch bench grinder ...

It sounds like your not sealing the grain off, or the sealer your using for the grain is reacting to the top coat.

That's because satisfied customers spread the word! ;) Nah, its more like... we are the only silly ones left, that would consider fixing some of this stuff. with what you've been given to work with the instrument can only be improved, hey? Re: Lightweight router recommendations?
I concur with jim.. I have a the plastic makita trimmer and find it invaluable for freehand work. Also have the big makita which is also permanently strapped to the router bench Out of interest I have an overhead router which is positioned via ballscrews and linear rails for doing inlay work etc and...

Re: How bad can a refinish touch up be
Its okay.... I matched the colour with the sides, the back was a bit lighter, I personally would have liked to have sealed sanded / seal scrape / seal sand and then put the finish on, then wet sand and apply another coat, but the customer was not willing to pay for this. So it was more of a case sel...

Doesnt look like much, but boy.....
