Re: TC Bianca & Anthony
You folks amaze me down there. My guess is this would be total pandemonium here where I'm from, but maybe thats cause we just don't see events like this.....ever. I'm so glad to hear that you're all fine and dandy. Now, was there any part of the NE coast that got blasted? Or did the Cyclone slow dow...

Re: True SJ - # 9 lots of pictures
Thank you guys.
Man do I miss that guitar Does it ever get easier giving them up?
It funny how we as the builder see things differently. I see all the glaring mistakes that I wish I could fix, but I know I'm one of the few who see them....

Re: True SJ - # 9 lots of pictures
Thanks again folks, Well deserved praise Rod. So let me get this right. You use CA to pore fill in the same way others (myself included) use epoxy? (sanding back to wood?) Did you do this on the mahogany neck as well? Yup, I use wax paper to spread the CA around and mash it into the pores, then sand...

Hey Rod,
I change them depending one the owners taste and desire. I'm really liking 1-23/32" and that is what this one is.

Re: Semi-Hemispherical fret ends
Thanks folks. John, I bind all my fretboards with the off cuts from the same board. So I find my largest dimension for the board, before the binding, and I cut it to that size (rectangular). Then I slot the board on my table saw, then I taper the board, glue on the binding and radius. This BRW just ...

Re: True SJ - # 9 lots of pictures
Thanks fellas.
Craig, I use medium CA for pore filling.
I'm really happy with this one. Does it get any easier to give these things to their owners?

Semi-Hemispherical fret ends
Here's my shot at doing Semi-Hemispherical fret ends. Never done it before but I didn't think it would be to difficult. So, this is the first time I tried semi-hemisperical fret ends. Never seen a tutorial on this and wasn’t going to pay $25 to Sylvan Wells to see his method, so I came up with my ow...

Re: Lacewood on Koa/Tazzie blackwood?
Ya, I've been reading on the OLF about the "lacewood" consiracy. You poor folk down under gettin mis represented all too often. Allied also lists Silver Oak as a "lacewood". http://www.alliedlutherie.com/images/Silveroak.jpg And actually, after reading the descriptions of the Brazilian lacewood and ...

Lacewood on Koa/Tazzie blackwood?
Has any of you guys used Lacewood bindings on Koa or Tazzie blackwood? I'm sort of on the fence with the look of it and would love to see some pics of any of you have done it. I got a set from Allied that they are calling Brazilian Lacewood. http://www.alliedlutherie.com/images/Weekly/Dec07W/Lace711...

Those look great Jeff!
Can you tell us what's happening on Bob and Nicolai soundhole? Looks like a soundhole cover of some sort....
Also, what finish are you using that gets these guys home with a guitar in 2 weeks? Thanks

Re: The Celtic Beauty - The epic journey
Thank you all for your kind comments. If I can in someway be an inspiration to anyone else struggling with a guitar that just doesn't want to be built, I'm glad to help. We all have these ideas in our head. Sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't. I'm just glad this one worked out, cause it...

The Celtic Beauty - The epic journey
Well, I sort of don’t know where to start with this one. It’s been a very long time in the making for me. Now please remember that I'm just learning this craft. This was to be guitar #5 for me, but after all this it turned out be #8. This is a long story and worth writing if you don’t mind reading a...

Wax paper is your friend when using CA. CA has a very hard time sticking to it, but double sided tape will stick to the wax paper just fine.
