Re: Global freezing
Don't believe any of them. The problem with the current climate religion is that too many people are "harvesting" tax-payers money with the new religion. Denying man-made global warming is not allowed as it could restrict the flow of cash. The question that is rarely posed is "what is climate"...

Re: Problem gluing EI Rosewood
I haven't done a lot of EIR - maybe 4 - but I haven't had a problem either. I always shoot the edges again with a plane shortly before I glue up. While I don't open a fresh bottle of titebond for each build, I won't use it for critical joints if it has been open for a long time. I also keep opened b...

I ordered mine the email way a while back. It's in the post but hasn't arrived yet.

Re: 180 years old mango tree
G H Hannabach, a German guitar maker (cousin of the Hannabach stings family) got mango and koa in Hawaii. So maybe Hawaii would still be a source for mango? I have seen it on eBay. I have a vague notion I saw it once at RC Tonewoods too.

I get stuff from Madinter in Madrid. I have stopped using a CC there because the bank they use also puts you through some sort of (pain in the behind) verification system. I pay by bank transfer instead. I can do it online.

Re: how long does it take to build an acoustic
Finish is a significant time consumer If by "finishing some electrics" you mean spraying etc, then I think you might be able to get it done marginally faster than the other have suggested - maybe 150 hours. But it is a maybe. Only a small number of professional one man shops significantly beat 12-15...

Re: What is this?
Looks very like the "germanic" guitars from 1890's to 1920's approx which came from the the areas around what is today the Czech/German border. There wee two centres of production there that were arch-rivals and build all sorts of instruments for export for export. One area is still an important gui...

Bit late to the party on this one. Check ebay. Or even ebays (i.e. various countries). Often some interesting stuff showing up.

Re: Boiling sides?
I go for something in the 2.0 mm to 2.4 mm as a hobby builder I am not so bothered about consistent side thickness. I aim for the around 2.4mm and then keep flexing the wood with my fingers - when it flexes easily I am happy with that. Alan Carruth (you'll come across him on other forums sooner or l...

Re: Good bye go bar?
I remember seeing a "mould"/"template" like this for sale on the German ebay a few years ago. It was made out of some kind of heavy rubber if my memory if correct. I believe it came from one of the old German factories that went belly up mostly likely in the 80's. Similar kind of steel string bracin...

Hmm...
As a toy I can see it would be fun. For prototyping I can see uses but on the whole I can't really figure out what they are good for. I am assuming that you are limited to just one kind of plastic when you use one of these.

This is something else I do. Have sold a few over the years, but have never really marketed them properly. Women love them (they are small and cute), especially after they listen to how they sound. Now this gives rise to an interesting experiment. Have a look at your website and see if you can make...

Thanks for that. Very interesting looking. Looks like the philosophy there is to have an very rigid body? Does that imply that you went with a very thin top?

Plans/hints for a thin body cutaway cross-over nylon guitar?
I was very taken by the Aranjuez Stage Nouveaux when I tried one about a year ago. Just recently I have been toying with doing something of that type in a year or two. Anyone know of plans that might suit? Basically a thin bodied nylon strung with a good un-amped sound. Versatile enough to play clas...

Current method. Wash coat of shellac. Sandpaper (preferably wet and dry) and alcohol of some kind. Still experimenting. Simon, I think you'll find your sandpaper will clog up with shellac. Yes, it does to some extent. But overall much easier than with pumice, at least with my level of pumicing skil...
