Re: Wood drying ovens
I was down in Geelong a few months back , I was picking up a mortiser off a nice married couple who had got rid of there staff , closed the doors and stopped dealing with the public ,and only quoted commercial work doing big winery fit outs of doors and Tables using second hand wood. All very impres...

Re: what wood ??
The smell test is the way to go , and I probably can do that because some of the mouldings are loose and have to be removed,so they can be put back on right. Ive never seen BRW with that figure but I believe what your saying Bob because since becoming interested in guitar construction , the level of...

Re: what wood ??
I know what you mean , I saw him cutting that timber up in the UK .
I even helped him get an Antique to cut up. This thing is mostly veneers though .
And too nice.
I couldn't cope seeing such a piece put to the saw.

Re: what wood ??
Thanks Kim , a nice match . Crazy looking wood . The first time I saw such timber about three years ago, I hardly believed that grain pattern . Zircote has a similar thing happening to that cocobolo but that Mexican cocobolo looks closer to the old bit I have here. Are they related ? and are they ba...

what wood ??
I have this Davenport in for some work to be done on it . At first glance I thought it was BRW because most of the ones that I see that are this early are BRW. I told the client BRW. Now I don't think it is though. It looks like the grain I have seen in Zircote used in instruments . with the colour ...

The guy took Buzz to court over the punch .

This is how I found out about the punch . the 3.57 mark is where they talk briefly about the court case.
" The judge threw it out of court and said " You Had it coming "

Re: A cammera falling from a plane, which lands in a pig pen
Yeah , I imagine lying in there unconscious waking up to a pig sucking or chewing my head . Whats going on as the camera falls , I wonder? it's spinning faster and faster till the frames,{ are there frames in digital ?} line up with its rotation ?? and films its own landing. NASA could never do a la...

Re: Classical No 13
I have not read much on classical building , I skipped through one book quickly , So I thought you will be telling me something I did not know. When you radius the sides for the top, and then flatten the upper bout , how do you know when it is flattened enough ? does it have to match the UT brace in...

Yes ok ,kiwigeo wrote:Those clamps would be perfect attached to the nuts of some of the idiots I have to work with in my job.
Although , when they break free from the clamp to the nuts , how many places are there to hide on an oil rig ?? lol .

Re: Classical No 13
You have an air conditioned workshop for the humidity , does it not cool it down as well ?
I'd love an air conditioned small work space.
Id like to see the new neck jig pictures . I Have the plans and will do one one day.
