Articulated string pull

I really like the idea of straight string-pull but really don't want to give up on a symmetrical headstock. On my current steel string build that has led me to try thru headstock banjo tuners. But the other day I did see this : FullSizeRender.jpg So I am thinking that with this sort of articulated s...

Re: Planetary/straight style tuners for steel string

I never heard back from Pegheds so assume that is a no go for steel string. Instead I have ordered 2 sets of banjo tuners and see how they go. They are 4:1, so not preferable but my only other option is Steinbergers

Re: Affinity Designer for Luthiers

Pardon my ignorance but what is “VA”? Might be nice to have an online listing showing software that builders can take advantage of for whatever purpose they may need. Just a thought. —Max VA is a piece of audio analysis shareware .....used by alot of the members here for tap testing. http://sillanu...

Re: Glueing on the Bridge

As someone who recently french polished after gluing on the bridge, my strong recommendation is to glue the bridge on after the finish. Granted it was my first time french polishing, but I reckon I spent 3 or 4 times the amount of time due to the bridge and around the bridge is the only part of the ...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

So to say that a free top plate with a spike at F# will "sound good when playing in F#" ignores both the 175lbs of tension and the phase incoherencies when the F# chord is struck. I don't think anyone here is saying that 1. Taking readings prior to the plates being attached, simulating attachment a...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

I have response curves that prove my point, but its a hornet's nest if I just post them without the support it needs for people to understand it all. The best vehicle will probably be a video series with images AND audio simultaneously, so I can show people what they're about to hear, and they can ...

I'd focus on getting your head around The Books first...once you do that everything else will make sense Oh yes I am. With this in mind, this is where I start to talk about phase linearity and the comb filtering Damn, just when I had started to get my head around monopole mobility and frequency responses, another rabbit hole to climb into! I can't stop someone from buying one to destroy, but its an expensive exper...
