There are some that come close but are even harder to get, as for Aus nothing is like Rosewood .I have used lots of species in small amounts none like it I'm sure ,then I do have a bridge size Aus Ebony for my completely OZ guitar :D

Interesting when you consider that One Million plus Instruments are sold per year (good bad or indifferent ),can't help thinking that's a lot of timber. :o

That's a good point I was thinking tools for luthiers i make all my own right down to mini chisels they have courses here in Melb and a steady stream i'm told :D ,I did buy the nut rule spacer thing that is so much easier .

Interesting that Peter,i was watching an old vid on custom builders and one of the guys said we will eventually run out of the exotics ,I guess more and more species will go the way of rosewood tis a shame .

Do it :D I found some Iron bark a while ago I thought veneers as well made a couple of slide fret boards just a 16 x 100 mm wide board ,I haunted a small wood place a while ago sometimes picked up some figured Black-wood all good fun.

I guess never forget the Drem was made only as a mini spindle grinder of sought's I use the term loosely :D Yep Mac I have the big hand held start that thing up and it want's to take yer arms off at the shoulders :o their gear is pretty good Value for sure jump in regrets won't buy much .

Most would say get the trimmer and it is a great machine true it's got the power and versatility but I like the Drem for many reasons hand held sanding being one from cleanup with brass wire brushes to mini drum sanding .I also built a universal router attachment so I can do sound holes binding and ...

I was close Mineral water :D I usually run a very small countersink in both sides of the tuning post ,I built a harp a while ago that has all the nylon strings going through harpsichord tuners no breakages 750kg on that sound board :lol: .

True the gobar type thing can become obsolete so i do use the method for other things I clamp the good part is you kind of get more control with the rod then I use blocks with the rod recessed in ,then i do make some crazy stuff :D all good fun.

Cool Jim ,I bought some of that yellow plastic coated rod 6mm from a place that made it for electrical guys they screwed it together to pull cable how long ago I can't remember works great .Nice work there budget is my middle name :lol: I make all my tools as well rite down to chisels
