Re: Al's Special Les Paul Junior

A very good 1st electrical guitar. Beautiful blackwood top. I'm planning on doing an electric
or a few just for fun, someday. It's coming along nicely Alan.

Hi Hesh, That's just the kind of purfling I like too. I was thinking about ordering some from Gurian but I think I read somewhere that there is a minimum order of 300 bucks. Is that correct ? I'm with you -Don't like bright white lines around the guitar, especially if it's also Wide. Have you seen Col...

Allen, Yeah, It was a lot of fun. I recommend putting a group together of guitar makers. I look forward to the next one already! :D I don't know if it was the same as a tenor uke but here is a pic of the back.I think he called this blister koa. Yes it had steel strings. http://www.anzlf.com/phpBB2/u...

Kim, I did go as thin as I thought possible with the ebony at .070 (same as the front overlay). A little thinner might have worked but wouldn't look right to me. This was just some mean, rock hard ol' ebony that had no intention of bending. It's strange because I bent ebony for my L-00 at the same th...

Bending the headstock plates

Hi Guys and Gals, Well, I managed to get the back hs. plate bent and glued on after cracking the 1st AND 2nd plates. I never had trouble bending ebony for this before but this guitar just didn't want to have ebony for the headstock overlays I guess, so I switched to a piece of bookmatched brw. spray...

Top purfling repair

Hey Guys, Well I decided to add a black/white purfling to this guitar.I don't think it looked right the way it was so I got this tool that is used for violin purfs. It holds a dremel and I used a 1/32 downcut bit. First I carefully routed along the rw purf and slowly increased the size of the slot t...

As of today,my favorite shape is OOO with slight upper bout changes and running a close 2nd would have to be the famous L-00 ! I think a lot of guitar buyers probably want what their favorite musician is using. If they see Neil Young or Stephen Stills strumming a Martin D-45 then a Dread is what the...
