Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

Another way to suppress the long dipole is to shove a "bridge doctor" in. With a bridge doctor you can also remove the lower bout bracing (not that I can see why you would). Interestingly people I have met are convinced that putting a bridge doctor in their guitar "improved tone". For example if you...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

From this quote " Like how a 12th fret harmonic combs/cancels the fundamental in a string" I get that you are referring to comb filtering as phase cancelling so that clears something up Frank. I have pointed it out but I will go again just in case I am not communicating my point well. From what you ...

Don't have an answer for you Hep (can't find a name for you but did google hepikohetaniwha just in case it was your name). Richard I checked your location and as you are a Kiwi (or maybe just live there) you should have realised that if I had meant any offence to Frank I would have began my sentence...

Re: Braces with adjustable Youngs Modulus?

While ideas like this may seem like good ideas intuitively, you may end up (if your not using good spruce) adding more mass by using CF products. Trevor does mention somewhere in the book the the use of the CF/spruce braces does not save much weight and at best with really good technique when adding...

Re: Braces with adjustable Youngs Modulus?

That said, has anyone experimented with making the Falcate braces laminated using two strips with a thin sheet of Carbon Fiber standing vertically between them instead of on the top and bottom as is commonly done? Max if you go to page 4-46 you will see that Trevor discusses this type of set up. In...

Martin Frank Kiwigeo, a nice ring to it perhaps it comes from the long dipole.

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

So to my good mates on this forum, in my humble opinion is not very polite (and probably also incorrect) to say that someone else doesn't know how a guitar works just because they cannot, or perhaps choose not, to explain what they are doing in terms we understand or would like them to use. Especia...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

What they're saying about the way the microphone identifies the phase irregularities more effectively than the human ears which are hearing the convolution of all sources and surfaces, is in total agreement with what I've said. My bridge design does not exhibit that phenomenon, to the same extent. ...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

Maybe this is off topic, but why is it that if I don't use terms lifted from someone's books or teachings, a formula from a physics professor, whether I agree to use an analysis method that mirrors one that you've used to verify things on a completely different design...that somehow the only conclu...

All looking good there Allan. Nothing better than working with some space around you...my workshop is getting tight. Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

You're incorrect, but apparently I can't fix what's making you wonder. Perhaps we'll meet in person someday. You could easily fix it, to describe the main driving force of the strings on the top would take about two lines or less. Also like I said a spectrum graph and some related chladni patterns ...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

Frank, it does seem to me that what you have been getting at is that the tension force is the main top driver on a conventional bridge but that is difficult to understand because of the language you use. I was just trying to get it to basics rather than going off on a tangent. You are correct the qu...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

Any chance you could just answer my simple question about how strings drive the top Frank?

The link you shared does not relate to my simple question.

I should not have added that quote try my question again and forget your quote is there please.

2. Driving the top (motor) in a way that is not the same as the way the strings vibrate the top. I have read your replies to me Frank and I am getting the picture that you are describing the tension force (in the way the string vibrates) as the driver of the bridge (this quote above seems to relate...

Re: Falbo Intension Bridge

I don't think you're being obtuse at all. The link you posted is referencing electronic signal, whereas what we're dealing with is more in the realm of loudspeakers, drum heads, in that the convolution occurs in the air in and around the guitar. In an electric guitar signal for example, if I have t...

In Lieu of Lurking

Martin's lurker post has had me realise that I have not posted for quite some time so I thought I would show off the current build. I do find building electrics a little, well, less challenging than acoustics so I came up with a design that would give me something to think about while building a cop...
