Re: Newbie guitar builder help
Lachlan, thats one cool guitar, well done so far. First thing I must say is that lefties rock, second I like the shape (but I would rather have a Tele) and especially the peg head. Your build site is very detailed and there is clearly a lot of thought going into your build. If this is your first gui...

Re: Soundports?
Warning - somewhat frivolous post - sense of humour deployed, (or at least attempted) As I can now claim vast experience on guitars with soundports (2) I feel well qualified to respond to this post. Based on no scientific analysis whatsoever, but on lots of playing them, I can categorically state th...

Alastair, well done!
Love the back wood and the headstock veneers. Also the heel is very elegant, I like that.
I bet it sounds good too.
Cheers

Re: A "little purple rock guitar"!
It has to be a Tele...............essence of simplicity but timelessly elegant. Pure form and function. If Coco Chanel and Yves St Laurent had guitars, this is what they would be. So cool, its cryogenic. imagesCA2VADKC.jpg It has two pick ups and a switch and knobs to twiddle!!. This is a girl after...

Re: Design considerations for a guitar for a 6YO?
Or you could do something like this.... http://www.anzlf.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2655 Basically, its a scale model of a Grellier OM, its tuned to G instead of E but otherwise its a normal guitar. I would not discount steel strings, (especially if yours has steel strings!), if you get the action rig...

Re: Lutz and Blackwood classical
Thanks people, very kind as always. Markus the headplate is a York Gum burl ( I think). I got it from Tim S, as well as the binding, which is indeed lovely stuff. I would definitely use blackwood again. The best description I have heard so far of the blackwood is "hokey pokey wood" - for those unfam...

Lutz and Blackwood classical
Well I see it was some 9 months ago when I posted a question on what woods to use for a classical build, so thats how long this one has taken. Lutz and blackwood was the recommendation so here it is It is (almost) finished, I am waiting for it to settle down, so I have not glued the fingerboard on, ...

Re: Buying a bandsaw - oppinions please.
This will probably sell for a lot more than $350, thats the starting bid, but if you got if for that you would be doing OK to buy it, even as a spare bandsaw until you get a bigger one.
Good luck!

Re: Attempting a re fret.
There are many better qualified than I to offer advice, but I'm going to anyway - you get to choose whether you take it. I would suggest you get that zero fret a lot nearer the other fret heights before you try to level them, as whatever you use will sit on it and produce uneven wear at the other en...

Re: Attempting a re fret.
Hi Greg I have one of these, I bought it when I was 18 yrs old, its now a very old guitar. Mine is cherry sunburst. If you only paid $10 for this, you have a bargain IMHO. It has a ply top but it sounds great (at least to me). I had a fret job done a while back in Auckland, not actually sure whether...

Re: Two young people playing classical guitar music
Well, Markus, if you havent hammered your finger then why is it red??? Re the lessons, I havent had so much fun with a guitar in years, and now spend much more time practising than I do attempting to build. Mind you its the middle of winter down here and its cold in the shed, so thats another reason...

Peter, welcome
Can we see that beauty out of its case please??
Dave Olds built a lovely macrocapa guitar a while ago, that looks as good.
Did the bridge come from Tim too? I have been thinking about ordering a couple of those - your picture just made my mind up.
Lovely guitar.
Cheers

I liked that.
I have just restarted classical lessons after a 30 year layoff and I hope I am playing as well as those two after 11 years. I also hope I will still be alive then.
Markus - haben sie ihren Finger gehammert??

Re: Hi. First time builder Questions.
1. Is there a better book or method we should consider? I am comfortable with using both hand and power tools, sharpening chisels and plane blades, building jigs etc. 2. How realistic is it to make a decent playable first time project? My concern is that my son who has no wood working skills can ha...

I was enjoying that build, so Ill be keen to the see the rest of it
Keep posting Padma, your pictures and approach are inspiring.

Hi Tod, you will need to tell us what size the dish is - the bigger it is, the more the difference between the centre and edge.
