Re: Lyon&Healy Restoration Demo
Hi Al
You have done a great job on the restoration, take a bow.
Is the body size of the Lyon and Healy similar to the Torres FE 17?
I enjoyed your playing. Thanks for the post.

Re: Big sheets of sandpaper
Hi Nick
I have purchased sanding discs 610mm diameter and drive belts for my Jet 16/32 drum sander
that are 410mm wide from the Sandpaper Man in the past, (5-10 years).

Hi Rod.
Lovely guitar. The blue white blue purfling. Is it died timber or fibre and
did you make it yourself or purchase it from a supplier?

Allen - yes it rubbed out easily by hand, it appeared to be in the finish and not in the timber.

Re: Stain on soundboard
Martin - thanks for posting your photos, they confirm that there was no evidence of staining on my set ES 014 prior to use. Trevor - thanks, I tried using Shellite on a small area of staining and it had no apparent affect. So I decided to bite the bullet and I have sanded back a small section of the...

Re: Stain on soundboard
Thanks, all comments appreciated. Mike - yes I have considered contamination from the steel wool. I only used the steel wool lightly between the coats of Mini Wax and would like to think that I carefully wiped the surface clean before applying the next coat. That is my usual practice, I do not use s...

Stain on soundboard
A black stain has developed sometime in the last 4-5 months on the soundboard of this guitar which I built in 2018. The soundboard is Englemann spruce and I sealed it with wash coats of dewaxed blonde shellac whilst working on it i.e. installing the rosette, then finished with Mini Wax Wipe on Poly ...

Re: Flamenco blanca - lutz & leyland cypress
Hi Trent I really like the 18 hole bridge. What is the head stock angle and did you increase it to suit the Perfection pegs? I am assuming that as the string pegs are 90 degrees to the head stock face and the wound string remains above the plane of the head stock the break angle of the string over t...

Re: Flamenco blanca - lutz & leyland cypress
Hi Trent Congrats that is a very nice looking guitar, looking forward to a sound clip. I gather that with the heel cap and back being one piece that it has a Spanish heel, if so how do you manage to do such a great job with the French polishing where the sides abut with the heel? Is the binding insi...

Equ. 4.5-1 and Equ. 4.5-2
Hi In the Design volume (first edition) at pg 4-58 Young's modulus along the grain is given by equation 4.5-1. Then on page 4-59 this equation is reduced to equation 4.5-2, which contains a value of 0.94625. My question is how was this value calculated? Using equation 4.5-1 and the average figure of...
