Kent Everett Voicing and Set up DVD's

Finally after almost a year of editing the Kent Everett DVD's on How to voice an acoustic guitar and how to set up an acoustic guitar are ready. These dvd's were filmed during Kent Everett master classes at Red Rocks Community College last year. The voicing dvd is a 2 dvd set with about 4.5 hours of run time and the set up dvd is about 1.5 hours of run time.

Those look like great additions to add to the library Robbie.

I don't see an easy way of ordering them from Australia. Seems shipping is set up for the US only. Can I get all 3 DVD's somehow?

I already have the John Mayes Series and they have an exceptionally comprehensive voicing set is there anything in these DVDs which I can't glean from Johns?

I have never seen John's voicing dvd so it is difficult for me to answer your question. Kent Everett's dvd is a 2 disc set filmed during a master 2 day class last year. It is not a recipe book, but a complete course in how to make your guitar the most responsive it can be. It covers everything from what is tone?, to choosing materials and working them to get the tone you want. I think one of the most important things I got from the course was to learn how to describe the tone I wanted. Once this is answered you can then begin to work towards that tone.

I think I can speak to the differences between Kent's Voicing DVD and John Mayes DVD. I had already owned John's voicing DVD's when I took this class. After reviewing both DVD's, I can say that these videos are very different, and you really cannot compare. I really think if you want to learn everything you can about voicing, you should really have both John's and Kent's DVD's.

I think of John's DVD as a crash course in Voicing, but Kent's DVD goes into a lot more detail, and it really is like you took the course. There are sound samples in Kent's DVD that shows the sound on a graph with the sound waves. This looks really cool, but I do have to say the sound from Johns DVD of the before and after sounds better. Other than that, you can tell the videographer is a professional who had done some freelancing for National Geographic, so the camera and condensor mic that Kent used really helped it look very professional. The menus are broken down into many sections, so after you watch it from end to end, you can go back to sections to really focus on what he is saying. These DVD's will be the bible of voicing DVD's, and you will continually go back to them to soak in more information as you progress in your Luthiery career.

I've got the centre line finder (invaluable) and the neck profile templates are brilliant.

Thanks Bob! I just took a bow. Glad you are liking the CL Finder and the neck templates! Having been to Queensland before and absolutely loved the land and people, I'm glad to be here, but wish I was over there now

Hey Tracy, welcome to the ANZLF

I will also back what Bob said, Tracy's centre finding jig is invaluable. I do not know how I would have managed to finessed the neck when flossing the cheeks to set the angle without it, with Tracy's jig it was a breeze and bridge placement was very simple as well, it's a great tool thanks Tracy.
