Pattern Makers Vise

Post by Allen » Mon Nov 22, 2010 7:24 am

Heads up for those of you wanting one of these, but have been put off by the high price and the exhorbitante shipping costs from the US.

Woodworkers Supply has them on sale for $74.99 and I just bought one. The total including shipping comes to Just a few cents under $142 USD.

That is a good deal Allen, the same vice from Stewmac would cost >$260 landed in AU. The Stewmac version does have a few mods from standard most of which they sell parts for <$30, or you could add your own nyloc nuts and a cork for the jaws if you want to upgrade cheaper.

EDIT: Looks like they have sold out and killed the link.

Cheers

I just had another look Kim and it's still there. I even refreshed my browser to make sure it wasn't held in cache.

If you are having trouble seeing it with the link that I posted, then just go through the main page. You will find it under "Clamps and Vises" then "Specialty Vises".

I'm booted into Windows at the moment.

Try going to

http://woodworker.com/

and type

801-802

into the search function

Strange, when the link failed i went to the site and tracked down the product, the link on the website did not work, but all the rest of the products displayed fine. That was this am:

From Al's link or the website I still get the error message "the system cannot find the requested file"

Running windows 7 and mozilla.

EDIT: Bob's product code works a treat.

Cheers

I've edited my link in the initial post to just take you to the home page. Follow the links through the site or use the search function as Bob suggested.

You seem to have misunderstood Al, what I am saying is that even if I go to the website via google, click on vices & clamps/specialty vices/pattern makers vice, (the link is there, you can see the thumbnail of the vice) I still get the error. The search function on the website when "pattern makers vice" is entered shows "No Result" so the problem is the wood workers supplies website. On the other hand, if I enter the product code that Bob had provided into the product number search field, then a page opens with a pattern makers vice already in the shopping cart.....strange goings on...

I just used the link Allen provided and did the search with the product number and bought one just five minutes ago.

Thanks Allen for the heads up on the deal!

There are two search funtions on the woodworker.com website: on the left there is the "Wizard Query ® Search" which does not work well for me when entering the patternmaker's vise product code, and on the top right of the page there is the "Catalog Rapid Order" Button which will add the vise of our desire to the shopping cart.

But you also can try this link (which I got from the shopping cart, clicking on the product number ;) )

Happy ordering!

Ok I finally got to the page via one of the convoluted work around routes. Didn't see any option for adding international freight to the order so had to order with local freight and then email them to adjust to appropriate international charge.

My vice arrived today. Typical courier.... had no idea where my package was in his van and he spent half an hour digging around for the parcel at the bottom of the pile in the back of his van.

The vice looks good but when opening the box do it on some old newspaper....my vice was smothered with oil and it got everywhere. The thing will be getting a thorough clean tomorrow before being installed on the bench.
