Nut files

Post by Pat.Hawkins » Tue May 20, 2014 4:41 pm

Hi folks,
Making slow but steady progress on my first guitar.

It's a steel string acoustic if that helps?

There are so many nut files it's confusing.

What should I get as a starting set?

Cheers

By far the best nut and fret files I've come across are some Japanese ones made by Uo-Chikyu. I buy a lot of stuff from JapanParts. They are a Canadian agent for a lot of Japanese luthier products and the shipping is straight from Japan to your door. Very fast and efficient.

The nut file set I recommend is Number 5003-3000

The tools and catalogues are on this page.

I can't see where you order them, but if you email Josh he'll get back to you with a price with shipping to you.

Hi Allen,
Thanks for the response.
Found them displayed here:

There's only three in the set.
I don't doubt your advice :) but how do you apply them to six strings?

Cheers

They're double sided. The thin side of the files does gbe stings, the fat side of those three files does the EAD strings.

Just in case someone is coming along and reading this later and can't find those files. Look in pdf. catalogue. Their website is database driven and the page doesn't display the same each time you view it.
