Back Cross braces for Martin

Post by Bob Connor » Mon Oct 15, 2007 9:48 pm

Here's some pics of the cross braces we do for backs.

We've been considering putting another brace across the lower bout to maintain the radius on the back but we really like what the flexibilty of this back does to the coupling effect with the top. You can really feel the back vibrating as you play them so we're loath to add any more stifness to the backs.

The first pic is an SJ, the others OMs. Not much difference really as they are both 15" across the lower bout.

G'mornin' Bob!

Sounds like a good experiment for the SJ, i like it too when the back vibrates, maybe the back vibrates less when a 3rd brace is added but i will compare that between guitar 4 and 5, interesting point mate.
