well i sent my mum down to the hardware to get some titebond type one, as that is what id been referred to by a number of people... and she gets welbond, and says the assistant ensured it was the same thing, and it would be suitable for lutherie.... does anyone know anything of weldbond? it doesnt have a lot of details on the bottle, besides that its strength can resist something like 3000 psi.. its yellow in colour.. any knowledge of it would be handy

It might be OK, but you don't to find out after the bridge starts lifting trailing strands of pale yellow gunk.

We know Titebond (the original not II or III) works, as does the white glue from LMI. There are a few yellow glues out there these days which probably set up harder than your basic Aquadhere, but the critical thing is how hard they set up and how much the joints will move when under lateral pressure - cold creep - which is the important thing for gluing bridges and has to be the vital aspect of any guitar building glue.

Titebond is usualy availabe from Carbatec stores or Gilet Guitars and probably other places

Why not use hot hide glue for adhering bridges? It takes heat better than any yellow glue, it's harder and may sound better, and it's no big deal to use once you get used to it. There's also a buzz out and using it is frankly marketable for luthiers. There's a "spin" on being a better luthier because you know how to use hot hide glue. Hey, it may be bull.... but it's marketable bull.

The best alternative I've found is the LMI "luthier's white glue".
