Appeal for instruments for bushfire victims...

Post by Rick Turner » Fri Mar 06, 2009 3:31 pm

This on the Port Fairy Folk Festival website:

with a link to the Guitar Gallery near Melbourne who are organizing instrument donations to musicians who lost theirs in the fires.

I'm sending over one of my pancake mandolins.

I've got friends who lost almost everything except their instruments and their lives in Wandong a couple of weeks ago. I've also been through a near miss with a major fire in Topanga Canyon/Malibu in Southern California in 1993, and I lost a house to fire in 1978. It's devastating, and music can help heal the wounds.

Nice thought Rick.

Pity I'm not in a position to donate an instrument, I'd like to, though I guess most of us have donated money or other goods.

Thank God for the bloody rain!

Thanks for bringing to the attention of the ANZLF Rick and very nice of you to donate to such a worth cause. I am sure your gesture will only help generate more giving.

Cheers

Kim
