Port Fairy Festival Report

Post by Bob Connor » Mon Mar 09, 2009 9:16 pm

I'm back from the weekend, knackered, but it was worth it.

Here's our stand.

Ray Black from Geelong discuss the finer points of his mandolins.

Alan Funk from Adelaide makes White Swallow banjo's,

Finn Matthews instruments were amazing. The two arch-top ukes fitted into what looks like a pirates chest which has a built in amp.

John Liddy's Arch top guitars and mandolins.

Image

Joe Gallacher from Albury makes what are probably the nicest blugrass dreadnoughts in the country. Didn't get pics of his guitars but I caught him bending some fretwire.

Image

I didn't get any of Jack Spira's instruments either but needless to say they were superb as usual.

Image

David Churchill from Bendigo makes very, very nice cedar topped guitars.

He's on the left chatting with harp maker Brandon Lasalles

Image

Ian Noyce has been one of Australia's foremost luthiers for many years and pioneered CNC methods years ago, building and programming his self built machines.

Scott Wise drove across the Nullarbor after Playmakers in Albany to exhibit.

Brandon LaSalles is a harp maker from New South Wales.

And here are some random pics.

Thanks for the update, Bob. Looks like a fun show for a player to wander around in. Of course, you're mostly in your own booth, but it is good that you got around and snapped some pics.

Thanks!
