Yet another Concert Uke

Post by Allen » Mon Apr 13, 2009 10:32 am

This one was built in tandem with the last one. Everything the same except this one got some Qld. Walnut bindings, and the more traditional friction type tuners.

It's surprising to me how identical both instruments sound. I tried to make everything the same, but with wood being what it is, I've had varying success with that in the past. These are the first instruments that in a blind test, I wouldn't be able to pick them apart.

Body - Sapele
Neck - Unkown, but mahogany like (just scrap lying around)
Binding Qld. Walnut
Fret Board and Headstock overlay - Ebony
Bridge - East Indian Rosewood
Finish - Mirotone

What? No sound clip?

First rate Allen, but I don't expect anything else from you.

Great job (again) Allen, love the bindings against the Sapele :D just adds that touch of class. Great finish on it too.

Nice work Allen and I'd like to second Lillians motion for sound please. You must have a few ukes there now or are they all sold?

A seriously good looking Uke Allen. Love the bindings and of course your finish is immaculate as usual.

What I really need to know is , Are you going to tip-toe through the Tulips ?

Only if I can convince Kim to join me. 8)

Serious looking Avatar there Craig. It looks a little like a beaver, but hard to tell from that size of image. Perhaps a very irate Wombat?

Beautifull Allen, I agree with the others. Is that the famous Allen adjustable neck [mini version] I see there?

Nice Uke

Mines so close just got the nut to glue on and shape and string it up.

No, just a bolt on from the outside. I can't get my big mitts inside, and I don't like glued on necks, so this is what I came up with.
