importing processes?

Has anyone here had any experience importing instruments or components from China or elsewhere into AUSTRALIA? I'm vaguely considering importing DB instruments in the white, neck off and maybe even top off, so that I can QC the assembly process and finish how I want. This for lower-priced mid-level instruments.

Where's the best place to go for this sort of information?
