Hesh, that is so sweet. Serge, I've got the same problem you have. The bookkeeper is going to have me sleeping on the sofa for weeks.
Uncle Bob, ignore any requests you get from me. I must be strong.

Bob,
3 Cheers! The first for the astonishing grain in that backset, the 2nd for the workmanship on the inside of that guitar, and 3rd that it is a small body guitar. I think I would like to see the curly for bindings.

I showed the page of Zircote to the Financial Director, she reckons that if I can afford that then I can afford more bling for her. Any more room on the floor?

Hesh, I think I see a big crack in that back set. Send it over and I'll do something with it for yah :M8 My work bench is a little wobbly and I could use it for shims.

It looks great, what a lovely looking wood.

I think the type of binding you want to use depends on the rest of the design package; rosette, purfling, neck woods and so on. I'm building a ziricote guitar now, and I’m going with a ‘black and white’ theme. It has a fairly wide white sap wood area on the back, and I’m using curly ash for the neck to sort of continue the white against the dark. I also cut bindings and purflings from the same woods, so it is all either curly ash or ziricote. Like Dave, I also love the look of “self boundâ€

You'll get used to it Sebastiaan.

Most of us here have been sleeping on couches or in dog houses for years.

Maybe we should start advising newbies to buy a comfie sofa bed before going for the bandsaw? :rolf

Got the bindings on it over the weekend and whacked some Z-poxy on it today.

The pressure's on at the moment with 4 guitars needing to be sprayed this weekend to be ready for Port Fairy. I can see some late nights coming up.

I think I agree with gratay and Kim, I mean, you were saying good things, right?

Wow Bob! That jaw-dropper will be a show-stopper. Be sure to photograph it a lot, from many angles, in several types of light (including outdoors on an overcast day, if you get lucky) before you let it walk away from you. Even photos of that guitar will launch a thousand ships.

Good luck getting it all done for the show, and we'll understand if you don't post much until the show is over.

What everyone else said Bob. If I wasn't on the other side of the country I'd volunteer to help spray. Good luck. Looks like you'll have your hands full.

I saw this last photo and let out a huge "WOAH!!!"

That is stunning, Bob, don't think I've seen Ziricote gleam like that!! The blackwood bindings really brings the gleam out!!

(a reminder to cut some strips off my blackwood sides for binding!!)

I have a Ziricote parlor (barely) started, and it was to have Bloodwood bindings. I think I just switched to Taz Blackwood. I know, copycat! copycat!, but it really does set it off and frame it so nicely.

Thanks folks.

This one ain't going nowhere. It's a keeper.

Koa would have the same effect as the Blackwood Dennis. And there's no "z" in Tasmania. Sorry, one of my pet hates seeing as though I'm two headed.

Dave - you know how slowly time goes when you're stuck in an airport. This is the opposite. :?

OK, got it. Tas Blackwood it is, or Tasmanian Blackwood. Thanks for the correction.
