Lutherie equipment/supplies for sale

Post by minapre999 » Thu Jan 17, 2008 2:12 pm

I am moving overseas at the end of the month and regrettably selling my lutherie equipment and supplies. I have already sold some general tools, but still have the following if anyone is interested.

6" bandsaw (old but solid, Italian),
8" jointer (Taiwanese, Carbatec brand),
121/2 " thicknesser (Delta),
Porter-Cable Router attached to a custom binding jig with a range of router bits to get a variety of inlay widths
Tonewood - blackwood, King Billy, some Indian Rosewood, Spruce,
2 x diamond stones + veritas sharpening jig
A few chisels inc. 2mm luthiers
compressor (basic)
spray gun
home built drum sander
home built humidity controller comprising Honeywill humidity switch, wired to a dehumidifier and a fan
Bridge clamps
Veneer sheets, maple + indian rosewood
20 or so GAL magazines,
Home built strutting vacuum clamp

I live in rural Vic, near Wangaratta if anyone has any interest in these items. In case I have missed any items please email me if there is anything not on the list you may be interested in.

Ashamedly I havent used a lot of it for some time so may come with cobwebs (just kidding - I will clean up the cobwebs )

regards

Peter

Sorry, the GAL mags have gone.

I have had a few queries about the tonewood. Most if not all is sized for classical guitar. It may not be suitable for dreadnoughts or similar sized instruments.

Spruce:

I have 6 sets of good quality book matched Engleman Spruce, originally from Larry Stamm Tonewoods. Price: $200.00 the lot + postage. See picture below.

Western Cedar:

I have 4 sets of good quality book matched Western Cedar, also originally from Larry Stamm Tonewoods. Price: $80 the lot + postage. See picture below.

Rosewood:

I have 2 sets of good quality Indian Rosewood. Price: $120 the lot + postage. See picture below (second picture to come)

King Billy:

4 pieces, 30 mm thick x 200 mm wide x 530 mm long. 1 piece 12 mm thick x 200 mm wide x 530 mm long. Perfectly quartered. Straight grained. Enough to make 9 classical sets. $200 the lot + postage. See pictures below.

Blackwood:

Piece A: 110 mm tapering to 90 mmm wide x 720 mm long x 20 mm thick.
Piece B: 140 mm tapering to 105 mm wide x 720 mm long x 40 mm thick.
Piece C: 590 mm long x 220 mm wide x 50 mm thick
Piece D: 510 mm long x 220 mm wide x 18 mm thick
Piece E: 730 mm long x 295 mm wide x 50 mm thick
Piece F: 1,240 mm long x 420 mm wide x 55 mm thick
Piece G: 1,300 mm long x 200 mm wide x 50 mm thick

Again, photos below. $250 the lot + postage.

Clearly some of the blackwood is very weighty and it may be advantageous to arrange pick up if you live in the Albury/Wodonga area, or fancy a trip up from Melbourne. Particularly if you are interested in multiple items.

I would love to have both sets of the Indian Rosewood thanks Peter. If you are happy to send them to me in Perth, I will PM you my shipping address so we can work out the total cost. If you provide bank details by return to my PM, I will do a direct deposit when the total is known.

Edit: Sorry Peter, I just noticed your statement re; the classical size for most of the tonewood, could I please have the measurements of the EIR before I commit.

Thanks for your understanding

Kim

I will take all 4 sets of the Western Red Cedar. If Kim passes on the Rosewood I would like it as well.

You can PM or email me.
