You make the pegs yourself? And what have you used for the black? Is it stain or a paint?

That is very cool Serg. Beautiful work and beautiful lines up the neck and into the peg box. I love it.
Cheers

What are the alternating body/bowl timbers? Have I missed you mentioning them?

I bought pegs...For one, this project only.
For necks - dye, then a NC lacquer (not glossy)

Traditionally it is a maple (or sycamore)
For alternative many use the Ash, Mahogany, and some other woods (sometimes in a combination).
But crucial importance it's a soundboard.

I had almost completed.
It remains to add the octave strings.
Sound great , archlute sings! (I thought it would be worse)
Now in my house Renaissance.. :D

I think you can take all the credit on this one Sergy. You've managed to upstage everyone with this beautiful monster. Robert would be extremely proud of your effort.

That's just a spectacular instrument Sergy. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching it progress and come together. Thanks for taking the time to document it.

Thank you very much Sergy for having documented your lute build.

This lute has turned out just gorgeous, and the short time span (2 months!) in which you built this very complex instrument tells it's own story about your outstanding abilities as a luthier! Image
The photographic work at each step is great and artistic too! :cl

Cheers,
Markus
