natural guitar design.

Post by christian » Mon May 28, 2012 11:35 am

I thought I'd share my constant inspiration (New Zealand Nature) and a quick snapshop of how I sympathetically apply it to my guitars. I'm Pretty happy how it turned out may need to tinker a little with the bracing though.
what do you guys think?
Cheers,

Christian.

Great going Christian! I thought you were aiming at a twin neck when I saw the first picture

Thanks both Nicks,
haha twin neck might have been cool !!!
Initially sounds good, I've never built a guitar with the soundhole/s offset in the upper bout, so had to re think bracing strategy a bit, I borrowed the A frame from Tacoma, and the X brace behind the bridge is something that i've been doing alot lately.I still might add a finger brace either side of the lower bout and I'll probaly put a removable panel on the butt so I can access it for the future. It might just be me but it does take some getting used to having the sound projection from another part of the guitar other than the centre, the player gets smacked with sound I'll close up the soundport and see what difference it makes.

Cheers,

Christian

Beautiful design Christian.

Is there a noticeable difference in what the player hears as compared to your other models? What about from 5 metres away?

Thanks for the thumbs up guys !!
I know the design is not everyones cup of tea,
but building it even just to draw some comparisons is worth it.
Allen I would say these soundholes to my ears, are definetely are more audible for the player
than my normal soundhole placement, not sure if that would be considered a good thing or not. I dont hear any
major tonal differences.
I will have to do some more tests on it from varying distances etc and get some mates to play it for some further feedback.

Cheers,

Christian.

Beautiful! Nice, natural flow of the leaf elements.

How'd you attach the bridge? (vacuum clamp?)

Thanks Kim for the kind words, can't go wrong mimicking nature, I think its a nice change from all the crazy inlays and ornate decoration we often do.

Christian

As the others have said, it all looks so balanced. and easy on the eye, well done. The bracing has got me thinking too.
