Martin 0028G bracing

Post by n~dl » Mon Jul 01, 2013 4:48 am

This is sort of interesting. Happened to see this while Trevor's design book was open to figure 1.7-1. Looks like the whoever designed it had observed cross dipole, long dipole, and cross tripole Chladni figures and roughly stuck braces over the nodes (respectively: the fan down the middle, finger braces making a smiley face with the bridge, and then the two outer fans). Interesting.

Of course it could have zero to do with that and he had arrived at the design with the thinking, "idk what if three fan braces instead of seven and maybe hmm some finger braces?", for reasons I'm not going to try to guess.

Anyway it's a purdy guitar, let's look at it.

Interesting excursion with bracing on that guitar, Nate. Thanks for the photos.
If my photos attach correctly, they are courtesy of John Greven. The
top is (from memory) ex 1917 Martin.

G'day Sam I dug this quote out of another thread.....
G'day Ben, Below the box you type text into when you are creating or replying to a thread is another box called "file name" click "browse" and a new window opens, find the file on your pc. Click on the file you want the click "open", then just below where it says "browse" it says "add the file", click that and another window open to load the pic, when it is done the file will come up just below the main text box and next to it it says "Place in line" when you click "place in line" it will add the file to the text box. The file need to be 800 x 600 pixels or less and I think less than 100kb or something like that.

If you have pics on another site you can use the "url" function to link to it. Click "url" and this comes up ""...........then put you url in here between these bits

Darwin S,

Thanks for the heads-up on attachments. The file sizes were too large.
So here we go again. S
