Show Us Your Joint

Post by Hesh1956 » Mon Oct 08, 2007 2:21 am

I mean the neck joint...........

I am packing this one up to ship it to Tony Ferguson for finishing and thought that I would share a shot of the neck joint.

Thanks folks!

Lillian I have sold a few now but I am not taking commissions. If someone is interested in what I have already built and bugs me enough....... I have been known to sell some of these. Building to order and not to my own vision would kill this thing for me...... I think one of the biggest attractions of Lutherie to me is being able to have a clean slate and build what ever I see at the moment..... Sometimes though - this can get ya into trouble when you look back a few years later at a guitar that I built and have to say - what was he thinking........ :?

Serge I vacuumed our alien this morning..... :D Finishing a guitar also means that the entire Heshtone guitar factory gets thoroughly cleaned....

This guitar fought me every inch of the way so I am happy to get the sucker out of my site if only for 4-5 weeks while being finished......

I understand where you are coming from Hesh. I really do. But I still think that you could give the more established guys a run for their customer base if you were to ever venture into this full time, heck, even part time.

That's another beauty, Hesh. I really like the way the heel cap matches the back.

Dido what Ron said about the heel cap. That is awesome.

I don't have any pics of my joints, they are not as nice as yours are.

Lillian, you keep pushing that guy ok :D . He'll get the picture sooner or later.

I know what you mean too Hesh. Hey, my offer to do a guitar swap still stands you know. It would take me about 3 years before you get it though at this rate

Hesh is that an inlaid strip in the neck or a glue line?

Matthew, it's a black fiber laminate. I asked that from another pic. Great work on the double bass!

Oh, you mean guitars!

I like the radius between the heel and neck shaft to be smallish, so the neck shaft holds it shape as far as possible before it transforms to the heel. I also like the taper of the heel to be pretty straight, not too much of that "S"-curve where the heel meets the sides.
