fix crack or make a cigar box ukulele.

Post by mickeyj4j » Thu Feb 12, 2015 7:39 pm

This is another post following after my original one about my broken baritone ukulele ukulele - Crack in Sound Board my ukulele had a small to medium crack in the soundboard. I put it away meaning to get around to fixing it. Then I forgot about it. with 2014 being so dry, and forgetting to top up the water in dehumidifier in it, the crack got bigger and now goes fro one side to the other of the soundboard.
each time I get it out i look at it and think to myself this could be an easy fix still. then i out it away and nothing gets done.

I know that if i took it in it would cost more than the uke is worth. this got me thinking would it still be fixable and sound good. or would i be better to find a cigar box similar size to the uke and salvage the bridge, neck, head etc.

I making a cigar box uku what tools would I need and what would be the basic prep I would need to do, remove the parts etc, to do this.

thanks for your help and ideas in advance

P.S. will upload some images of its current state soon
