I think they are 1/4", have just silver soldered a 1/4" drive socket to a rod for adjustment through the tail block or put a 5mm socket reversed on an allen key for soundhole adjustment.

If you are doing a big old Maton archie like this one that came in yesterday, you will need the long rod tool with small od on the head to fit through the endpin hole.
Got this one from Haworth guitars a few years ago.

Why do I immediately think of a Proctologist when I look at that photo? :(

EDIT: Nevermind, I just found a 5/16” that works a treat

Old thread bump:

I just bought a long neck 7mm twelve point socket and it doesn’t fit! Seems to be too small.

I can’t test any of my normal sockets as they’re too large to fit into the recess, can anyone confirm the exact size before I make another drive into the city!

I also purchased the extension version truss rod adjuster tool for my now 47 year old FG 150, !2 string, Acoustic Maton Guitar, about 15 years ago from the Guitar Factory, Parramatta. At first I found it difficult after taking off the strap tail button and then sliding it in to align and fit into the truss rod.

Many, many years ago I made a Maton truss rod adjuster from a drum brake adjusting tool. It was a Z shaped tool with square sockets on each end, one of which was the right size. I chopped that end off and cut a slot in the stub so I could use it with a screw driver.

Just did a Google search and couldn't find anything like what I had. This tool is a ring spanner version of the socket thing I had, FWIW. If you're old enough, you might find one like I had in your bucket of dead tools... :D
