Music Emporium, Boston

A while ago we had a discussion about favourite guitar shops. Today I found a new one. I am in the US at the moment and took a couple of hours away from my work conference in Boston to visit the Music Emporium in Lexington, on the outskirts of the city. It is a great shop for new and vintage instruments, especially acoustics. They are very relaxed and welcoming and you can spend as long as you like playing anything you want, sitting on the comfy leather lounges with their friendly resident border collie at your feet. A good chance to test out some makers I had heard lots about but not previously got my hands on - Bourgeois, Froggy Bottom, Santa Cruz. Also plenty of Lowdens, and more Collings than I could count. Dozens of Martins too of course. The one that I really wanted to take home was a 1934 000-18. Sadly (or wisely?) I left with only a capo, t-shirt and coffee mug.

Highly recommended if you happen to be in the New England area.
