Accident!!!Don't drop one of these!

Does anybody know where to source the screws for one of these? They don't like being dropped, the screws aren't high tensile...Ross

Talk to Stewmac...they may be able to supply parts. That said by the time you've paid for the parts and postage it might work out more cost effective just buying a whole new jig. Ive done much the same to two of their thicknessing calipers...

30 degree cutting mod
err...its actually 32.5 degrees...useless!
I have written to Stewmac. The problem with these bases is that the screws which bent/broke are hollow and threaded to accommodate the screws which hold it to the base- which is the weak point. It would be better to have them made with high tensile steel.
I Just drilled and tapped a new one on my drill press, but when tapping into it the wall thickness is not strong enough for the torque when I tap the thread and the whole thing collapses and bends out of shape....if only I owned a lathe and a balcksmiths forge...ha ha- R

See it as a sign that it's time to build yourself a decent one using a laminate trimmer!

I use my Veritas Dremel base a lot more than my Stewmac base these days. Lot more solid.

I had a bolt fail only StewMac jig, the guys were happy to send out two new bolts to the U.K. free of charge.

The free bit was fantastic as customs in the U.K. takes a week to process anything of value.

I emailled Stewmac. They got back to me promptly, the next morning. They are happy to send me replacement parts free of charge including free postage, and said that they will dispatch promptly. This is the third time they have made a great effort re customer relations! Last time they replaced faulty binding cutter bearings. Good company, easy to deal with in my experience, great customer relations. -Ross
