A banjo

Post by rocket » Mon Dec 11, 2017 7:34 pm

Not really into banjos but they have strings and this one came to me absolutely free.
Needs a bridge and lots of love, can anyone say if this make is known?

Cheers

Rod.

nothing wrong with banjo's - they are loud without using power :))
Japanese copy of a [if you are lucky] mastertone likely from the late 70's - they made a few different models from entry level to a mastertone clone or "masterclone"

A complex instrument the way they are put together and set up is a bit of a balancing act but easy enough when you figure it out. Hopefully this one has two adjusting bars. and if you are luckier under the truss rod cover will be a truss rod adjuster head. I have seen the odd one using the cover as a decorative element :))

Ive worked in a few old Japanese Banjos and some are better than others. There is nothing quite like the biting tone of a well set up banjo when you are used to the mellowness of guitars. Personally I love banjos because of their power and projection

There is heaps of info on the interwebz on how they work. .
