Hi Everyone,
So the piano at home reached the cannot be tuned stage and has gone into retirement. Rather than just throw it out I decided to try and salvage some wood from it. Got some nice ebony and ivory from the keys and was hoping to get some spruce brace material from the soundboard ribs. I've started taking it apart and some of the frame material looks like it could be spruce? The piano is 100+ years old.
Anyone have any opinions of this wood? The first photo is one of the soundboards ribs and the last two some frame wood.
Thanks in advance.
Jim
Is this spruce?

Yes likely to be spruce, looks it anyway, why has it reached the cant be tuned stage.
What do you need to know, I use to repair and tune pianos as well

Looks like spruce. Looks like a few spots of mold here and there as well. If it's just surficial it should sand out.

Thanks very much gents. I thought it might have been, just wanted some input of some more expert eyes.
The piano tuner said it just won't tune up to pitch any more and won't hold pitch.
