'Dying craft"?? Yeah right.

The radial soundboard..interesting concept but I'd like to see some tap and Chladni testing on those tops.

Good on the bloke for having a go and trying something different. I would however like to see how he measured the vibrations getting out onto the soundboard very quickly which help to clarify the sound :-D

Looks like he is basically making dobros or banjos with a wooden soundboard instead of a metal cone/skin head.
I'm not to impressed with his dismissal of the rest of the luthiery world, though perhaps that is a product of editing down to a short clip

I saw that and it is interesting, although I don't agree about the dying craft thing. I listened carefully to his mandolin, and I am not concerned about any potential competition. His concepts might work, I dunno, but he hasn't got it right yet.

Looking at the last fifty or so years I would describe it as a burgeoning craft, like nowadays you can buy a kit.
Life is good when you are amongst the wood.

Yes exactly. There is also a heck of a lot more information readily available nowadays. The old ways when I first started was to keep what you learned to yourself, not let any "secrets" out lest the opposition gets wind of it. That has changed hugely.
