Hand rubbed burst

Post by rocket » Wed Jul 04, 2018 7:37 am

I am interested in having a go at hand rubbing a burst, I’ve seen a couple of vids on this topic but haven’t seen much in regards to protecting timber or ABS for that matter bindings and purfling.
I naturally think of dealing with lacquer or ca or shellac, does anyone have any experience with this method?

Cheers

Rod.

I've asked Beau Hannam about how he protects the timber bindings and purflings when he does a hand rubbed burst and his reply was that he applies CA glue with a Q-Tip very carefully to them. Still may have to scrape them a bit later.
