Martin it still does not work. I tried to compress it however, the file only slightly reduces to 21.8 Mb. Therefore, I have remove many of the pages in the example file of the client's manual and the file size was reduced to 8.73Mb. Then a warning symbol appeared when I attached and note followed advising that the file was too large, max size available is 4MiB. I have reduced the quality of the pdf file down to 1.93MB.

Hope this now works and gives a sample of the manual that original had around 69 pages.

Regards
Wayne

Thanks everyone, this is all great stuff. I enjoyed all the opinions and differences thereof on pricing. When I had originally given a price, I gave a caveat that it was for a 'standard' build and if they wanted ancient spruce, a cutaway, elaborate inlays etc etc it would be extra. So I think I have covered myself a little bit and maybe could apply Steve's 150% strategy. I didn't think of a case but they live locally so I may get away with this.

Steve, you may be right that hours per dollar I may end up earning a paltry amount but this is currently not how I earn the money (just one of the reasons why  ). But you don't learn without doing

Thanks Wayne for persisting with the pdf, that sure is a lot of info you give to your customers.

Thanks Trent for you good comments. For me, I am retired and I have the time to provide this information to clients who appreciate this. I enjoy spending the time it takes to build quality a guitars with these accessories. Doing this as hobby with some financial reward and no pressures is how I like it. As a home guitar builder it can have its rewards not just finanicial.

For the next client in the future before making a quotation, I am going to have a form that includes an item tick boxes and comments section to help the client walk through the process when deciding what type of guitar is required.

Regards
Wayne

Way more money in repairing guitars than making them, that is a definite.

Steve
Lets not be coy about this Steve, your skillset as a repairer of guitars is well in advance of that building them from scratch, we've all seen your excellent How To's. It's reasonable to expect that the reward should be higher.

Guitars are just one thing, check these babies out, very rarely do I get a pair from one client, they are usually single units, the pair are worth new replacement value 90,000 dollars

They are in for full mechanical rebuilds, rebuilding them is all labour

Well, that was a fizzer!

I do not understand at all what happened, but the fellow cancelled saying it was too overwhelming. All I did was give him some options on SB & neck and asked if he had thoughts on a scale length he'd like. Talk about hot and cold, he had been really insistent on trying to give me a deposit which I deflected wanting to a few things finalised before accepting. Maybe I should have accepted the deposit...

So strange

Super Bummer, it does happen, people get caught up in the prospect of a custom made guitar for them and then reality hits
