Golpeador material/options

Post by lamanoditrento » Fri Feb 08, 2019 8:31 am

Hi All, I am getting close to finishing my first flamenco and will soon need to start thinking about the golpeador. I have been using the stewmac clear self-adhesive mylar for pickguards and string guards (just below the tie block). Is this the material ok for a golpeador. Do people have alternative options or opinions?

I was using an unknown thick clear material that i was given by a player from Spain many moons ago, but ran out recently. So started useing this stuff: https://luthiersupplies.com.au/acoustic ... lear-mylar
Have this on a few recent builds which are in the hands of some players who dont treat the soundboards very nicely, none of these guys have reported any problems with it (yet).
