Nice one Chris. I've been mulling over something similar but have to upgrade my sander first to a longer bed model. Or perhaps I can just extend the arm and use longer belts.

If I had $850 laying around and room in the shop I'd get a large edge sander and go with the Fox setup. But don't so I had to go this route.

There's also the old lmii jig, i built myself one a couple of years back out of t-slot extruded aluminium, I adjusted mine to make it usable with compound fretboards, cost me about $250 of parts, a lot cheaper than the Grizzly version, and that one is not adjustable as much as mine. You do a compound radius by adjusting the height differently on both sides



Here's pics in action, you can see how low the bars are on this one, that was a 7.25" radius

And what's the hinged bit of wood dragging on the belt for?

Its for clamping angled headstock necks, there's quite a few makers of these extrusions, 8020 is the most famous brand, Bosch-Rexroth and some others make it too. I bought mine here

Check out their 'profile system' link to see all the bits and bobs available, they're priced really well compared to the sturdier 8020 brand who's a lot more exy. I already had expenrience with these guys before i build the jig as I used the same compnents to build my CNC a year or so before that. I pretty much designed the sanding jig and ordered the pieces pre-cut to lenght, all that was left when it got here was to drill and tap holes in the locations needed, a nice afternoon project and an invaluable tool for guitar building.

Yes it is, its been sitting there unused for some months now since I haven't gotten 3 phase connected yet
