Bridge Hight Gauge

Post by timbuck » Sat May 24, 2014 7:55 pm

I find this useful..But you may prefer other methods  ...Bridge hight depends on a few things, action prefered, Fretboard thickess, neck angle, top radius, Fret size, etc: .. I try and get it as close as I can during construction but it usualy needs some fine adjustment in the end to get it just how I like it....here is a device I use nowadays..it tells me quickly and exactly how high to make a bridge on any soprano uke of the same scale, in this case 6.8mm high ..I made it from Corian worktop material. It consists of a straight edge with a notch cut out at the ideal bridge hight (leaving a small allowance for the saddle hight) and wedge gauge for measuring.
