Slow speed grinder

Post by matthew » Fri Oct 02, 2020 1:16 pm

i just picked up a Sherwood slow speed grinder from Timbecon. I’ve been looking for one for ages.

Very heavy unit but runs smooth and quiet at 1450 RPM. Two 8” aluminium oxide wheels on it.

Works really great. you can hollow grind all the way without burning the steel.

the excellent veritas tool rest works great on the coarse wheel and i made up my own version for the wider fine wheel.

Very happy with how quick i can get onto the waterstones!!

Truly a time saving machine to have. Alas mine sits on the bottom shelf because my work space in the garage is not large enough to mount it and keep it available all the time.
