Binding Router story...

Hi,
After many years of using my old binding router setup shown here, I finally bought and set up a factory-made unit. As seen in the early photos I am prone to over-engineering some jigs.
There are a lot of photos covering putting this jig into service, so I will have to break it up somehow.
1. Old and new & Setting up the Binding router.
2. Making the installation aid, not supplied.
3. Modifying the Router base.
4. Modifying or fine-tuning the router's depth of cut and reducing the weight of the router on the guitar top.

So you know what I’m talking about…

Installation tool. This was not supplied and not listed by the supplier. It is used to center the router base onto the aluminum router carrier to drill holes for mounting the router base.

Hi again, here is the rest of the story...
Fitting a larger collar to the router base…
I thought that the plastic collar supplied had a narrow surface in contact with the guitar top, so I made a new one a bit wider out of ebony. I thought the original might fall into the purfling slot that I normally cut first.

Height fine adjustment modification etc.…
This makes the depth of cut easier to achieve. Photos should tell the story.
The spring is adjustable so as to not have too much weight on the guitar top.
