Black Heart Sassafras and Spruce Classical

Post by seeaxe » Mon Jul 27, 2020 5:42 pm

Finished a week or so ago and handed over to its new owner. Described elsewhere in a build thread but decided I should put these here as this is the best looking and so far best sounding guitar I have built.

Blackheart Sassafras Back and Sides
Lutz spruce top
Rosewood fretboard
Blackwood bridge (for sake of lightness)
Satin box binding
Fiji Mahogany neck
Falcate bracing (very happy with this)

Choice bro!! Great colour combo, Satin box pops that beautiful Sassy!
Intriguing butt strips, your own design?, & that neck to body join?? interesting, being a uke man, how does it attach
?, similar too a telecaster?

Well done!,

Thanks. Yes bolts on but with the bolts/nuts accessed through the soundhole. The soundport makes it easier to see these and so tighten them but its still a bit of a faff. Thinking of going full Tele with next one and putting at least two of the bolts right through.

The end grafts are make from the rosette mosaic. Was very happy with those.

Cheers

Looks great. Did a double take when I saw the heel missing, interesting idea. Would certainly make carving the heel easier! Looks pretty neat...

Main reason I did it was to make setting the action easier, which it does.
Also makes it easier to reach the frets above the 12th, according to the new owner, he likes it.
