jb Artist - Malachite/Emerald Green
jb Artist - Malachite/Emerald Green
Hi All,
Here is my latest effort. It is similar to the last one but with a modification to the cut away. The top carve is also a little different with a bit of recurve at the edges. The colour is Malachite which is a mix of green and blue.
Features: Piezo Acoustic Bridge, Coil switching, stereo jack, Humbucker/Piezo blending. The new owners initials at the 12th Fret - in MoP. Thin neck.
I will post a video of it being played in about a week or so.
cheers, jb

Seeaxe, thank you very much.
The inlay was cut with my CNC machine - both the MoP and the ebony pocket.
Allen, yes, it is a very cool colour. I mixed a ratio of 3 parts Green to 1 part Blue. I also applied a diluted blue wash over the final stain coat to bring it to this hue - it is water based analine dye. It is the paleness and variation of the flamed maple that really highlights the colour. Maybe you could try it for a uke top ??? definitely for back and sides, though.Allen wrote:I'm just in love with the color Jason. I don't build electrics, but I'm trying to figure out a way that I could get away with a color like that on an acoustic?
Are you cutting your inlay by hand? Very tidy work.

Hi All,
I have just posted a Youtube clip of the roadtesting sessions I had last week for this guitar. Jordan and Greg were kind enough to put it through its paces.

Jason this is a great guitar and you should be very proud of your accomplishment here. I really like the green colored finish as well but the overall look if this ax is absolutely killer.
Sound wise in acoustic mode it sounds better than any electric in acoustic mode that I have heard. My old Parker Fly Deluxe in acoustic mode did not sound as good as your ax.
I also really enjoyed the video and Heart Shaped Box was over the top cool.
Nice job my friend!

Thanks Nick and Lillian, It was good to have Greg try out the guitar too. He has got a great feel for the blues. Thanks also for the triple Borat!
Hesh, Thanks - Funny you say that as I was raving to Jordan about the Heart Shaped Box section. He just nailed it for feel and tone. You can tell he thinks the same as he gives his head a little shake at the end.
cheers, jb
