000 Guitar NGR and Engleman
Finished and playable but the rain down here seems to have put drop marks on the NGR.This one sounds bloody great although that's only from the maker and I could be slightly biased.
Body : New Guinea Rosewood

Tell me what the Gidgee was like to work with ( without swearing )
I'm going to have to give NGR a shot sometime . Everyone I know that's used it raves about it. Certainly has 'the look '. Tell us about the finish... and when can you do mine Hey !, I'm only just up the hill from you remember . It's not overly glossy , ,, just nice. I like your choice of rosette also . I've just done one similarish and am pleased I took that approach

Bout time you got that one done Micheal. Next time you might want to use some of your nice NGR though.
You don't want to know about the Gidgee Craig. He uses a lot of it to fire up the Pizza oven. Makes great coals, and the pizza's do taste great, so I wasn't going to complain too much.
Nice work Micheal. It's a very nice and thoughtful design that is complimentary to the woods and style.

Craig , The finish is Mirotone Nitrocellulose Lacquer and is 60% gloss.When you buff it becomes quite clear but not quite as glassy/toffee apple like the 100% Gloss.
Using Gidgee is no problem at all.It has a bad reputation for being hard but actually works quite well.I would rather cut up Gidgee or Cooktown Ironwood all day than dry Tas. Blackwood especially that dark stripy figured stuff.I don't think it matters whether the Gidgeee is back or quarter sawn for fret boards either.When it is dry it is very stable and the backsawn can be very pretty with a few grain lines where quartered can end up quite plain once it starts to oxidise .
The Silver Ash is from North Queensland ( Flindersia Bourjotiana ) and is quite white but will slowly yellow a bit mainly to do with the lacquer yellowing with age.Lots of natural lustre and subtle figure and very fine grained, beautiful stuff to work.
