Latest OM in Mahogany #9

Post by peter.coombe » Fri Aug 22, 2014 2:07 pm

I can hardly believe it, but this is my 9th guitar. This time it is Red Spruce top, Mahogany back, sides and neck. Blackwood bindings, Ebony fingerboard, Blackwood bridge, Schertler tuners, and the rosette is Huon Pine and Qld Maple. The mahogany B&S came from a stash I bought from a bloke in Sydney. Stunning dark Brazilian Mahogany with interlocking grain. Neck is African Mahogany that I stained darker to match the B&S. I love the sound, warm and responsive. Here is a sound clip (sorry I am not a guitar player) -

Woodrat has just informed me the mahogany is actually Cuban Mahogany, so that makes the guitar pretty special. Wood unobtainium nowadays.

Nice work!

If it were mine I'd make that headstock logo bigger! Stand out more.

Ah Peter...like I said when we chatted last week....you just need to know where to look :)

...never leave a stone unturned....or an antique store unratted!
