"Rose Cliche"

Post by DarwinStrings » Sat Sep 27, 2014 1:34 pm

I have been trying to arrange my own version of "Autumn Leaves" and am getting there but not quite done yet though I feel it is good enough for a sound demo on this guitar. Soudcloud link here

I stuffed up with my notes and ended up making the back a little too thick, discovered it when I had to remove quite a bit off the back main brace, checked my notes and realised my error, still the back works but maybe pulling a bit of power out.

The Iveroid tuner buttons in the headstock pic looked good but started to slip so I went back to the originals, bloody Ebay.

Looks and sound good! :cl
Nicely played too.

How does it feel getting with the left hand past the 14th fret? Is there a considerable disorientation the first few times you do it?

Thanks Markus. Hard to remember the first time as I have been playing this joint for quite some time now and am very used to it. I did play a Maton Dready the other night with 14 frets and a heal. I played a piece where I get to the 17th on the e string and there isn't a big difference but I do find mine a tad more comfy. Also played a Lag 12 fret nylon with a cutaway and that was disorienting would take me a bit to get used to that.

Very nice Jim - the instrument and the playing.
Does the neck bolt right through to the back or is it an internal arangement?
cheers

Cheers Mark, all the metal and screws are hidden. I had done stuff before with the plate on the back just like a Fender but find it a bit strange looking on a acoustic so I put the effort in to hide it all.

This just came up on Facebook, nice to have a guitar in the hands of such a determined young man. He has worked out that while he is still in high school he can use his passion for music to make more money than his mates do as McDonald workers. His ambition is music, music, music.

Hi Jim,
Beautiful guitar and magic tone.
Autumn Laves is a great melody and I enjoyed your version very much!
The young fella is also a future performer hope he keeps at it.
Thanks for sharing

Cheers mate. I get the feeling that even a Cat 5 cyclone would slow his determination Alan.
