All Aussie timber superstrat build

Post by demonx » Fri Mar 27, 2015 5:48 pm

A few assembled pics of my latest build - "Michael's "Runes/Mjölnir" SS6"

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a soft spot for this one. Built from some of my all time favorite timbers and the simplicity of it is right up my alley. At first I was a bit skeptical about Michael's choice of Chrome and White hardware, but in the end it turned out pretty nice!

Victorian Blackwood top and elec cavity cover.
Queensland Maple neck and body
Pacific Blackwood fingerboard
Tiger Myrtle binding

There's something really pleasing about all of that chrome and bling against the earthy satin Blackwood and Q maple , I like it .

I was a bit worried about the chrome and White, I was strongly suggesting we go with black but the customer insisted he wanted chrome and White.

In the end it worked out well and it won me over!

Wow the fretboard is cool!

BTW what makes this a superstrat? Seems like it has very little in common with a strat. More like an ibanez. Very cool none the less :) .

The term Superstrat comes from the 1980's when the strat shape was given a bit of a makeover by many different manufacturers. Most featured higher gain pickups in the form of humbuckers, full floating bridges with locknuts.

The term these days is fairly loose.

Ah now it makes total sense. I probably should have just googled it myself :).
