Mini

Post by 56nortondomy » Sun Apr 12, 2015 12:30 pm

I was asked to quote to build a mini, but i missed the job, so i thought i'd make one anyway. It was a great little project and for a change there was no stuff ups ( well maybe the odd little one ). The top is Lutz lattice and cf braced.
It's quite punchy and also has good volume, i just wish i knew how to play.
Top is Lutz
B/S are Guatemalan r/w
Neck is African Mahogany
F/B is Ebony
Bridge, rosette and headplates are Padauk ( i love Padauk but i doubt i'll ever use it for a rosette again, it turned the top pink when i sanded it level, had a hell of a time cleaning it up )
Bindings are Satin Box from Tim
Pickguard is Eirw
Inlays are Paua
Gotoh tuners
Baggs ibeam active p/up
Lacquer finish

Nice stuff Wayne,

Looks great :cl :cl :cl :cl :cl I made a mini a few guitar back and also really enjoyed making it.

Something about the small bodies.

Cheers,
Paul .

It was enjoyable making it Paul, and i managed to do it in about 3 months ( i don't think that was because of the size, more like i just wanted to make one, so i was pretty keen. )

Wayne, that is a really sweet looking guitar. :cl

I want to try something similar once I've got some more experience under my belt.

What is the scale length? Did you find a plan or make your own?

Thanks,
Aaron

Thanks Aaron, the scale is 22.75" I didn't have a plan, i just sketched it out on some cardboard ( got no idea how to use CAD ) until i got something i was happy with. Best way to get experience is to just do it, so have a go, just take your time, and if you're not sure throw some questions here on the forum, someone will know the answer.
