Cocobolo classical

Post by 56nortondomy » Wed Jun 22, 2016 10:42 pm

I finished this guitar a couple of weeks ago and have been letting it settle. It's turned out really nice, but as usual my photos leave a bit to be desired. It's a very loud guitar and has a great tone, it's my first go at falcate bracing and I'm happy with the outcome.

Extremely classy Wayne. A really nice choice of woods...the bindings especially.

Wayne that looks dead smart. Is it your own outline or is it based on one of the classics? it looks subtly different.

I notice that you seem to have a big change in height on the saddle between base and treble. Did you feel that you got the playability/action right? I still struggle to get this geometry right, ending with a saddle height not necessarily where I intended.

And yes love the bindings.

Thanks Martin, Dave. The action is pretty right Dave, I'm happy with it. The shape is based on a Hauser, size wise, but I drew the outline by hand so it's probably a little different. Koa always look good on cocobolo this is the second time I've used the combination.

Beautiful looking guitar, Wayne, congratulations.

That jarrah rosette ties in really nicely with the cocobolo, but all the wood choices are great on this guitar :)

Is the armrest stuck on or held in with magnets? Looks great.
