Ovangkol and Sitka Tenor Uke

Post by Allen » Fri Jul 14, 2017 4:32 pm

I'd never heard of Ovangkol before, but when I saw it on offer in the Buy Sell section knew I had to give it a go. Very beautiful figure in this set. It bends very easy, but has absolutely enormous pores that need a lot of attention if you are going to do a gloss finish.

Sitka spruce sound board with Australian Blackwood bindings. Ringed Gidgee fret board and finished in high gloss lacquer.

Hi Allen , I am extremely impressed to see what you have done with this set, It was a hard decision to sell them but this makes it a lot easier seeing what you have achieved with it, now I am keen to see what you do with the others. I am still heading up way so I will catch up with you at some point. Cheers Robert.

Lovely, as usual Allen. That makes me keen on trying ovangkol at some stage too. How did you fill those giant pores? Was it epoxy?
cheers
