Thanks Allen, yeah i think i did a couple of coats of shellac and then Mirotone NC.
Think i cut and buffed it too :D

Hey Allen got a question for ya, I'm finishing up a couple of Concert Ukuleles, whats the norm for string height at the 14th?

Cheers
Frank

The measure is always at the 12th fret, and norm will be 0.090 - 0.100". I think that translates to 2.0 to 2.2mm

0.040 to 1mm
0.090 = 2.25mm
0.100 = 2.5mm

Nice looking guitar, congratulations. I like the clean looking headstock design especially.

The Tas myrtle in my stash is quite pink...which i quite like, but good to know it can go golden too

Hi Frank,
Lovely work mate.
Simple and elegant.
Was the Myrtle a pinkie colour before the shellac?
I have a set of high figure myrtle and it is very pink.
Thanks for posting
Cheers

Love those golden tones, especially the shimmer on the myrtle back.

Thanks Guys

I do have a soft spot for Tas Myrtle and have used it for bodies and necks
I've found it varies in colour from Deep Reds to pale pink and even some green washes, but haven't seen a piece i didn't like
The shellac does warm it up, that and UV, reminds me of American Cherry in that it darkens fairly quickly

How does it sound? OK i guess, I made 2 using the same stick of timber for backs and sides, same top and neck timber.
I think the first one (mine) sounds better, think i was nervous about making the top too thin on this one.
Left it a bit chunky at 2.8 and i think lost some bottom end

Thanks again for the positive comments

Cheers Frank
