Been wanting to give one of these cutaway scoops a try for a few years now and finally got around to it. Must say it's this little details the most challenging woodwork I've ever done. However it is suprisingly comfortable to use.

This instrument is Australian Blackwood with a Sequoia soundboard. Gidgee trim and high gloss polyurethane. Gotoh machine heads and Gold EVO fret wire. Strung up with D'Addario's in DGBE.

Beautiful as usual Alan, I love the richness of the sequoia :cl :cl :cl .

I have a scoop cutaway on my list too, although I think the lutherie community missed the opportunity in naming the cutaway after an Italian city. A Genoan cutaway for example.

Any tips now that you have done one?

Watch Kent Everett’s video tutorial on the arm bevel. Similar process.
